Why a boat beats a restaurant
A birthday on a private boat beats the back room of a restaurant for one reason: the whole boat is yours. Nobody at the next table, nobody else's music, and the cake comes out when you say so.
What it costs
天天租船 rents the whole boat, up to 33 people. The day trip runs 10AM to 6PM, from $7,500 on weekdays and $8,500 on weekends and public holidays. The Victoria Harbour night cruise leaves at 7PM, from $5,500 on weekdays and $7,500 on weekends and public holidays. One price for the boat, and the friends split it however they like.
Day or night?
If the birthday person wants to swim, paddle the SUP and throw the inflatable in, book the day trip. If they'd rather celebrate after work, or just don't like the sun, the night cruise leaves at 7PM and the harbour does the decorating. A birthday that lands on a weekday is cheaper either way.
Cake, food and the song
The cake: bring it, plus a knife, plates, candles and a lighter. It's windy at sea, so light the candles in the shade and sing fast. All other food and drink is yours to bring too. There are tables and seats on deck, so a cloth and a few boxes make a party table, and karaoke is on board, so the birthday song gets a mic.
Everything for the water is included
Once the boat stops, the SUP, the inflatable and the life jackets are all included. There are small life jackets, so kids and non-swimmers can get in too. Anyone who'd rather stay dry sits in the shade with the food, and the birthday person can go back and forth.
